MiMoments: a Frameo alternative for Android tablets
Looking for a Frameo alternative for a tablet you already own? MiMoments focuses on reusing Android tablets as photo frames and sharing family moments.
Start with the screen you want to use
Frameo describes a system where its mobile app sends photos to frames running Frameo software. MiMoments starts with your own Android tablet running Android 8 or newer. You do not need to buy a special MiMoments frame.
If you already have a compatible tablet and are comfortable setting it up, MiMoments is an alternative to try. If you prefer a ready-made frame, also consider the display, mounting, power supply and practical setup. This is not a product test or ranking of Frameo devices.
How families share photos with MiMoments
One Android app has two roles: photo frame on the tablet and management on your phone. Connect the frame to your family using a six-digit code, without signing into the screen itself. You can also upload and organise photos through the website.
Invite family members or share an upload link for a particular screen. That link does not let its recipient administer the screen. Choose albums for each screen and use the web overview when managing several frames.
Everyday details
MiMoments supports albums, shuffle and collages, with an optional clock and family calendar. A simple daily schedule can make the screen black at night. Downloaded photos are stored on the Android frame and can continue during an internet outage.
There is also a URL-based screen option for Chrome in kiosk mode. An iPhone can manage photos through the website; MiMoments does not have a standalone iPhone app. The Android app is currently a preview, so test it with your own devices.
Cost and expectations
You can start using MiMoments for free, supplying your own tablet, power and internet. Paid subscriptions are not yet available for purchase. Plans with accepted campaign terms may use up to 5% of screen time for advertising.
